SERVICES AND SUPPORTS – Benefit from the great value of members-only services.

TTLA members can take advantage of our specialized listservs and document banks. With the listserv members can instantly find assistance from other members on how to handle specific cases, answers to complicated law issues, and help finding experts in the field.  Some of the listservs include: General Litigation; Healthcare Lability; Social Security; Family Law; Civil Rights & Government Tort Liability.  TTLA members also have access to the TTLA website and TrialSmith, which includes a document bank where members can search for motions, forms, pleadings and other documents by specific issue. 

ADVOCACY – Become part of one voice that speaks out for justice.

TTLA is consistently representing the needs of your clients in the legislature and educating Tennesseans on the importance of the justice system. Through the Circle of Advocates, TTLA hires several top contract lobbyists who represent TTLA on the hill.  TTLA sponsors proactive legislation to promote the civil justice system as well as oppose bills that are adverse. Through weekly legislative bulletins TTLA members gain important insight and timely updates on legislative issues to help protect the safety of Tennesseans and your clients’ rights.  Members are encouraged to sign up to be an Attorney On Duty, attend the annual Civil Justice Lobby Day and be a member of the legislative committee to become engaged in the legislative process.    The importance of keeping Tennessee laws as favorable as they can be to our clients is a battle that is fought every year by the TTLA. 

AMICUS - The TTLA Amicus Curiae Committee works to keep abreast of important judicial decisions.

The TTLA Amicus Curiae Committee reviews cases involving important civil issues that have a far-ranging impact beyond the isolated facts of the particular case. Important issues include critical procedural matters; evidentiary rulings; questions of substantive law; jury instructions; post-verdict motions and related matters.  TTLA members receive a free phone consultation for any type of appellate case they are working on.

CONNECTING - TTLA members have the opportunity to work with Tennessee’s leading trial attorneys.

TTLA hosts local networking events across the state several times a year.  These events give members a chance to socialize with attorneys and judges from their area.  Members are encouraged to attend the TTLA Annual Convention in June, the best CLE and networking opportunity for plaintiffs’ attorneys.  TTLA members have the opportunity to be involved in the association through many avenues from volunteering to be on the Board of Governors or by being a member of a committee; including legislative, membership, amicus, CLE, and publications.            TTLA members also have free access to a conference room and office at the TTLA headquarters to use for depositions or meetings in Nashville. 

EDUCATION

TTLA members receive a discounted rate on top-notch continuing legal education programs including an annual conference and statewide seminars on issues that affect you and your clients.

THE TENNESSEE TRIAL LAWYER

Members receive the Tennessee Trial Lawyer, a publication filled with valuable information to improve your law practice.  Including articles from the top plaintiff attorneys in Tennessee. 

PARTNERS

TTLA members have access to a variety of sponsor partners who can provide services specific to civil justice issues.  These include expert witnesses, financial assistance, marketing, and investigations. 

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

TTLA members can run for the board of governors and/or the executive board of the TTLA. When elected they have the opportunity to help lead and guide the association.  It is an opportunity to be get to know other board members who are top trial attorneys throughout Tennessee. 

MENTORING PROGRAM

Members have the opportunity to become mentors to a new lawyer.  To be a guide and resource for them.  New lawyers have the opportunity to have a mentor assigned to them to have support as they navigate the civil justice world.
