Summary
If you knew you could add an additional $1,000,000 or more in value to 30-50% of your TBI cases, you wouldn’t hesitate to do so, right? Then don’t hesitate to attend this one hour webinar-it will change the way you evaluate any TBI case! As PI lawyers, we have historically looked at TBI cases through the lens of neurologists or neuropsychologists. For the last 20 years, endocrinologists have known that head trauma can cause dramatic and profound injuries to the pituitary, which in turn cause dramatic changes in behavior that mimic TBI symptoms. Endocrinologists know that these behavioral changes are mediated through damage to the pituitary, and know that this type of brain injury can be objectively proven. However, they typically don’t talk to neurologists or neuropsychologists, who may wrongfully attribute these behavioral changes to unseen axonal sheering in the brain, sending your client off for neuropsychological testing that the defense will simply use against your client. But what if those behavioral changes can be shown to be the result of objective damage to the pituitary, taking away from the defense their ability to label our clients as fakes or head cases? This is where we, as patient advocates, need to be able to properly connect the TBI dots amongst the different medical professions to get more value out of our TBI cases. If you regularly do TBI cases, you cannot afford to miss this webinar!

Brain injury work is his passion. For the last 25 years, Scott has proudly helped folks with brain injuries get the specialized treatment they need to get their lives back together. Scott understands that the effects of brain injuries are often complex and subtle, and can have a variety of profound effects on a person if they are not recognized and dealt with in a timely fashion.

Scott is one of first lawyers in the country to recognize the importance and prevalence of pituitary injuries in brain injury cases, and to passionately start educating and alerting the rest of the legal profession on the importance of such injuries. He has also led the charge on helping brain injury victims get the help they need for pituitary and hypothalamic injuries, which may be present in up to one half of all brain injuries. Scott is also an advocate for objectifying brain injury cases through enhanced imaging of the brain, endocrine testing and documentation of sleep disorders. All of these methods help take the guess work out of brain injury cases, and help juries get to the right verdict.

Because of his passion for helping TBI victims and training other attorneys on handling TBI cases, he has twice been asked by the Washington State Association of Justice to Chair its annual Traumatic Brain Injury Seminar. He has also been asked by the American Association for Justice TBI Litigation Group to speak to its members regarding pituitary and sleep issues, as well as several other State Trial lawyer organizations . He has been recognized by the medical profession as well for his passion in helping TBI victims.

In addition to his passion for representing TBI victims, Scott is also an accomplished trial lawyer who has tried more than 75 jury trials over the course of his 34 year career. As a graduate of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming, he has a passion for trying cases.    Read Less
